I being an Ambit Energy customer for seven months. They offered me a rate of +- 9.6 cents per kwh.

For last three months Im being charged and billed high amount of money for electric bill. Im paying a lot more that what I was paying with previous company at rate of 12 cents per kwh. They said I used the service and have to pay my bill. They could'nt provide me a reading date so I can verify the reading myself. It doesn't make sense.

It is not a reliable company. In 13 years never paid that.

Location: Dallas, Texas

blah blah blah - the bottom line is this: If Ambit can afford to pay sign-up bonuses and residuals then they are NOT passing along the HUGE SAVINGS to customer. Network marketing energy - what is this world coming to?

The people who complain about Ambit Energy are usually the ones who don't pay their bill and just keep asking for an extension. Ambit does not disconnect someone if they're bill is 3 days late, you get a 5 day grace period before any late fees apply and plus you get about 10 days from the due date to pay your bill. Don't blame a company all because you decide to spend your money then to pay your *** electric bill.

No, there are some of us who have a problem with suddenly being charged triple for monthly bills! Plus, it's pretty presumptive of you to say that "you decide to spend your money" on what?

Perhaps there is a good reason why, such as a dire medical issue.

Do you have a crystal ball to know what bills people pay? Stop assuming you know, DB.

So, if Ambit is so bad why does it have the highest Better Business rating possible? I think if I saved a dollar from what I was paying I'd be thankful and not complain.

A dollar is a dollar. I am not a ambit customer yet for the record.

I just cancelled Ambit. I got a statement letter saying how much I saved over the past year $13.81 WOW..!!! I think I'm going to buy a Bentley lol

I am an Ambit consultant. Ambit is not a scam but, before I say what I must say, I must tell you that I am NOT lazy and do NOT depend on others for my success.

Having said this, I was coaxed to join Ambit, paid my initiation fee, went to all weekly meetings and the very few meetings arranged by my mentor. I tried so hard and I tried my best to get customers for Ambit but could not make a go of it because: 1)the company has horrible Customer Service. And hear this folks, my electricity was disconnected on a Friday on a $39.00 overdue balance that was only 3 days late. Because Ambit was not opened during the weekend, my family and I had to stay at a hotel until Tuesday before our electricity was restored!!!

and I am a freaking consultant for the Ambit !!!2)if your mentor does not mentor, unless you are a marketing wiz, you will not make it in any business. Ambit is making a few persons A LOT OF MONEY, but a lot of us in the majority, have lost a lot of it.

It's obvious that all the complaints on this forum are from Ambit Energy's competitors! I have 40,000 customers,in my downline with Ambit, and NOT ONE has ever had problems! Ambit Energy has over 500,000 customers. And some people still think they are a scam! That makes me laught out loud! :grin :grin

I have an average electric bill of $8.07 every month.

Ambit Energy is NOT a scam!

So why does my bill average$125.00 a month? Where's my $8.00 energy statement?

Ooh, good for you, Ambit boy. Thanks for laughing at those of us who you've collectively tricked into indirectly paying for all Ambit rep's electricity.

I feel so much better! :P

I just paid a 300 dollar bill for a small three bedroom house. I've been with Ambit for six years.

I was moving out and my contract expired so instead of treating me like a loyal costumer, they charged me 15 cent per kilowatt. That is just wrong.

No reason to treat your costumer this way. I'm never going back

Ambit energy is a SCAM. I signed up in November of 2010 and didnt actually receive anything from them until January 2011.

At first I saved roughly $20 a month. It was too good to be true. July hit and all of a sudden I got billed for $175.25 (my bill was $65 each month prior). I called Ambit and they said "sorry we supply the gas but you have to talk to National Grid about this.

So I called National Grid and noticed that they have not read our meter in a year. Mind you about a month before we got a letter from Ambit saying that they noticed that we are using more gas then they thought. My gas meter is in the house so there is no way anyone can read my meter without me letting them in the basement. So I gave my new reading to National Grid and they advised me to not pay and that they would mail me a revised bill because we used LESS gas than they estimated.

We waited and 11 days later we got the new one. In 11 days Ambit energy charged us another $175.25 on top of the $175.25 they bill 11 days before. Mind you the first bill said balance due to company $364.68 and the revised bill says balance due in your favor $86.85. I called Ambit and no one can help or even explain why they are doing this (not even the supervisors).

No one in Ambit gets back to you when they say they will and no one can help in my situation.

All they tell me is to pay the $350.00 and they will compensate us when/if they find reason to refund any payment. I do not trust Ambit in the least they are a SCAM!!

I love currants...mmm...they make great jelly. I currently have some! :zzz

Let me see if I can help so lets do this one item at a time.

You said they could not provide you with a reading date: that is because they don't read your meter it is still read by the same company that read it before Ambit is only a provider.

You said that you started out at 9.6 per kwh: that sounds like your contract ran out and you did not renew at a currant rate so you were placed on a variable plan. With this it is what it is called variable it go high to low depending on currant prices.

Now this is what I can see from what you wrote and I in no way represent Ambit Energy.

I would suggest you contact them and ask what plan you are on and if you are not on one get on one, so you can determine what your bill should be.

I do know that in the last month they have had two rate drops some as low as 9.8 depending where you are in Texas, if you are in Texas.

I hope this helped some they are a good company but they are only a service provider, and only bill for the kwh that your previous company said you used.

Wow, well all I know the big power suppliers have huge buildings and the big wigs drive expensive cars. So the big guys aren't saving you any money . I notice most have 1-3 year contracts that lock in the prices
